About PrimeRatings
The project, the mission, and the people behind it.
What is PrimeRatings?
PrimeRatings is a community-powered historical football ratings database. Our goal is simple: give every player who ever played the beautiful game a fair, calibrated rating — from Pelé and Eusébio in the 1960s to Messi and Mbappé today.
Traditional databases stop at the modern era. We go back to 1950, combining community knowledge, historical records, and AI-assisted analysis to produce consistent, comparable ratings across generations.
The Mission
Every Player
1 000+ players rated and growing. Every era, every league, every position.
Every Era
Ratings calibrated so a 92-rated player in 1970 is comparable to a 92-rated player in 2024.
Community First
Built and verified by fans. Anyone can add a player or suggest a rating.
How the Ratings Work
Each player receives a season-by-season rating between 1 and 99. Ratings are submitted by community members and validated by our AI system, which cross-references historical statistics, media records, and peer ratings to flag outliers and ensure consistency.
The peak rating displayed on a player card represents the single best season of their career. Career averages and progression charts show the full arc.
